Body Composition Checks at Your Pharmacy

Home › Body composition at your pharmacy

Quick answer: If you take a GLP-1, checking your body composition (fat vs. muscle), not just your weight, shows whether you are losing fat or muscle. Independent pharmacies are starting to offer quick in-store body composition checks when you pick up your prescription. We are building the list of participating pharmacies now.

Why check body composition when you pick up a GLP-1?

Part of the weight lost on GLP-1 medications can be lean muscle. A quick body composition check each refill shows fat mass, lean mass and trends over time, so you and your prescriber can adjust protein, strength training and dosing early. For the most precise baseline, pair it with a DEXA scan every few months.

For pharmacy owners

Your GLP-1 patients come back every month. A clinical bioimpedance analyzer turns each refill into a body composition check, which gives patients a reason to fill with you and opens a new cash-pay service.

  • Clinical-grade body composition in under a minute: fat mass, lean mass, visceral fat estimate and segmental analysis.
  • Get listed free on WeightLossNearMe.com as a body composition location.
  • Launch pricing for pharmacies and clinics: see the DEXA+ clinical body composition offer and analyzer specifications.

Common questions

Can I get a body composition check at my pharmacy?

A growing number of independent pharmacies are adding clinical body composition analyzers. We are building a list of participating pharmacies; until then, you can book a DEXA scan, the most accurate body composition test, through DEXASCAN.COM.

How is a bioimpedance scan different from a DEXA scan?

Bioimpedance analyzers estimate fat and lean mass by sending a small, painless electrical signal through the body; they are quick and good for frequent tracking. DEXA uses a very low-dose X-ray and is more precise, so many people get a DEXA baseline and track in between with bioimpedance.
